About Katrina

Councilwoman Katrina Manning holds a Master's degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. She is a graduate of the Los Angeles African American Women's Public Policy Institute. Manning has served on the Board of Directors for Hawthorne Northeast and has previous experience as a Commissioner for both Hawthorne Parks & Recreation and the State of California. In addition to her public service roles, she works as a Community Engagement Manager in the healthcare industry and is a licensed realtor.


Community Accomplishments

Throughout her career, Councilwoman Manning has achieved numerous accomplishments and actively contributed to her community. She successfully implemented a valet safety program for Cimarron Elementary and served as the President of the Holly Park Homeowners Association. As the Founder of Movies in the Park, she provided entertainment opportunities for the community. Manning was a Democratic Delegate for the Los Angeles County Democratic Party and a member of the Economic Development Council. She played an instrumental role in distributing 400 free glasses to students in the Hawthorne/Lennox School District through the Vision to Learn program. Manning also founded Math Maze, a program that benefits students aged 6-18. She produced National Night Out events from 2010 to 2015 and volunteered with the Highly Favored non-profit organization to feed the homeless. Her leadership as the Holly Park President resulted in the successful petitioning for speed bumps, park improvements, and the passage of the Healthy Beverage bill for kids by the city council.

Achievements

Councilwoman Manning's dedication and achievements have earned her several accolades. She was named the "Democrat of the Year" by the Los Angeles County Democratic Party in 2015 and received the "Citizen of the Year" award from the City of Hawthorne in the same year. Manning was appointed as a Delegate in 2010 by Steve Bradford and elected as a delegate for the 62nd District in 2013. She was recognized as the "Woman of Distinction" by Senator Rodrick Wright in 2011. Manning has received Certificates of Special Recognition from various esteemed individuals, including Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Congresswoman Karen Bass, Congressman Adam Schiff, Congressman Ted Lieu, Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, and U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer.
